    • DI is Demineralization by Ionization.

    How it Works

    At the heart of each UltraTEC deionizer is a dual-bed ion exchange resin tank. Tap water first passes through cation exchange beads which remove positively charged ions like calcium, magnesium and sodium. The water then percolates through anion exchange beads which remove negatively charged ions like chloride and sulfate.

    As water passes through the beads, ions attach themselves to the resin sites in exchange for hydrogen and hydroxide ions. This "deionization" process produces water with extremely low electrical conductivity. Post filters polish the water to 5-15 megohms per centimeter for laboratory grade purity.
